Anna's Tutu

Anna's Tutu is finally finished and listed on the website!

Anna's Tutu is very special to us.  Anna was a very sweet and special little girl with a very rare disease.  She made a huge impact on the community and wanted to make sure that other special kids were helped.

Anna's Celebration of Life Foundation has helped over 100 kids get equipment and other things that they need.  They are an amazing organization and the people there have such big hearts.  Please take the time to visit their website and read up on how you can help! For each and every Anna's Tutu sold, $15 will be donated to Anna's Celebration of Life.

For every 500 Honeybee Memories Facebook fans, we will donate a basket full of goodies to another sweet girl through Anna's foundation! So hop on, and share the page with your friends.

As always, a huge thanks goes out to the incredibly talented Vanessa VonRouge for her beautiful photography!

Anna's Tutu:
Anna's Tutu is made with aqua and fuschia tulle.  The waistband is made from white satin ribbon.  Anna loved pink and purple, so around the waist there are thin purple ribbons tied. As a special touch, there are butterfly-shaped beads tied at the waist also.  The waist is elastic and will stretch to fit toddlers up to a size 10 in girls.

***As always, please carefully supervise your children while wearing this tutu.  This item contains small parts!***

Anna's Celebration of Life

Hi there Honeybee Fans!

We are so excited and honored to announce that Honeybee Memories is now working with Anna's Celebration of Life Foundation! If you haven't heard of them before, they are an amazing organization that helps special needs kids get the equipment or other things that they need.

We contacted the foundation a couple of weeks ago in the hopes that there would be a little girl that they are helping who would love some special tutus and hair accessories.  We got a response from Beccah the very next morning!  We have been set up with a very sweet 3 1/2 year old little girl!  (check out the note on Anna's Celebration FB page here)

All of this got me thinking that while I am so excited to get to do this for this girl, I would love to be able to do more!  So, I spoke with Beccah, and Honeybee Memories (in conjunction with Anna's Celebration of Life) will be designing a special "Anna's Celebration Tutu"!  A large portion of the proceeds from the sale of each of these tutus will go directly to the foundation!

Here's what YOU can do to help!  For every 500 Twitter followers (@GracefulHoneyB) or Facebook followers (facebook.com/HoneybeeMemories ) we  will donate a tutu basket to another little girl through Anna's Celebration of Life!
So RT, share, and spread the love to brighten up the life of some very special girls!

These aren't your mom's cutoffs

Hey there Honeybee Fans!

I am all about repurposing items to make them last longer or give them a new life! So, in that spirit, I am starting a new weekly segment!  "That's the Way the Money Goes" will focus on ways that you can save a little cash and let off a little creative steam at the same time!  This week we will start off easy......making shorts out of your kids worn out pants!  I have 3 kids, so shopping for new clothes every season can get very expensive. But I didn't really like the look of the basic chop-off-the-legs-and-let-them-fray technique that we used when I was young(er).

So, here is what we did..........

D had a pair of pants (super cute green cargo pants with flowers embroidered on them) that she had completely worn the knees out of.  Since I prefer my kids to wear longer shorts (daisy dukes on an 8 year old is not a good look lol), we cut them off just above the knee and below the cargo pocket.  Then we took some burgundy 1 1/2" wide satin ribbon, folded it over the bottom of each leg and stitched it in place.  They turned out super cute!  D was almost sad to see that she had outgrown them this year!  But she was very happy to pass them on to a younger friend! (forgive the picture quality please.....this was taken at Disney last year lol)

Bonus!  Take the leg that you cut off and make a cute little purse!  Just trim the bottom part of the leg (the part you cut off) down to about 6".  Turn the fabric inside out, and sew the raw edge closed.  Now, turn it back out right, and you should have a little pouch, but you still need a strap!  Using the same ribbon that you used on the shorts, cut a long piece and attach to either end (on the inside of the purse).

You can decorate the purse anyway you like........or let the child decorate her own!

What does your family do to save money or bring new life to old things?
